Up for sale are a pair of rare 1991 Centaur Minor Apogee speakers ribbon hybrid. Perfect for the audiophile enthusiast for high-fidelity sound reproduction requiring the right accoustics and room in order to maximise the benefits. These have been tested on Linn LK1 and LK2 pre-amp and power amplifier and the sound quality is clear, loud and clean. The price of these in 1991 were 1.2k US well over 3k in todays value, this price is reflective of rarity and quality in vintage items rare to find these days.

Some high level specs of this include:
Bass driver: 6.5" Dynamic cone, Midrange: 26" Aluminium/Kapton ribbon (etched 6 segment), Max Sound Level: 107dB, Sensitivity @ 3m: 85dB, Frequency response: 40Hz (-3dB) to 20kHz, Suggested amp power: 50W (8 ohm load), Crossover frequency 800Hz, Impedance nominal/minimum: 6/4 ohms

The 26″ (6 element) etched ribbon tweeter is the same version which is used in the later model of the Stage. The 6.5″ dynamic cone woofer is mounted in a long rectangular enclosure set towards the outside of the speaker so the dipole ribbon fires into ‘free air’. The woofer is positioned at a height which is the mid-point of the ribbon tweeter.

Very Good condition refer to pictures for several marks and corner damage, Color grey and silver. There are two dings in the corners of one of the speakers, and a couple of marks which have been touched up which makes one of the speakers in very good condition whilst the other is in excellent. Ribbons and mesh are fine no holes marks, etc, the wood grain is also fine no mould or color discoloration except those two spots.

Tested on Linn LK1 pre-amp and LK2 amp both speakers sound amazing. Words cannot describe how amazing these speakers sound both are functional and sonically sound good (balance is fine), playing bass-heavy music, operational condition of this item is excellent, fully tested and no issues found.
